Cabbage parcels
Cabbage parcel of rice and lentils
Ingredients
- 1 cup Cooked brown lentils
- 400 g Sweet potato cooked and mashed
- 1 Onion chopped
- 10 ml Garlic chopped
- 5 ml Leaf masala
- 5 ml Mixed herbs
- 15 ml steak & chop spice
- 2 ml Ground Bay leafs
- 25 g Tomato paste
- 1 cup rice cooked 600 g
- 30 ml Psyllium husk powder (available from health shops)
- 300 g BBQ sauce (recipe on web site under sauce)
- Salt to taste
- 18 Cabbage leafs separated and cooked until thick part is soft
Method
- Fry the onion until start to change colour.
- Add the spices and garlic. fry just until spices change colour.
- Add lentils, tomato paste and a little water just to form a little sauce, but not much.
- Add the cooked rice and sweet potato mash and mix well.
- Add the Psyllium husk and mix with the hands.
- Make hands full in balls and set aside.
- Wrap each ball in a cabbage leaf and roll up tight. Pack tight together in a oven dish.
- Pour BBQ sauce over.
- Bake till light brown at 200oc for 60 minutes
- Serve with vegetables
